Day two of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015 proved to be quite entertaining. Let me explain...
MARK AND ESTEL captured the audience’s attention with their girly rocker outfits and their musical performance; yes, they sing too! Their inspiration came from their new tune “Malibu Anthem,” hence why they named the collection after it. The looks were edgy and screamed attitude with a flare of elegance. They had fun playing with length as the models walked down the runway in cropped blouses, mini-skirts and short shorts showing off their beautiful midriff and long tanned legs, then in maxi and t-shirt dresses letting the audience know being covered up is just as appealing.
A fun fact about the clothing is that all of it was made out of 100% cotton. How comfortable! They treated the material to look like fabrics such as leather, metal, silk and wool. Oh and the sun hats made a statement too. Celebs like Jessica Simpson, Lady Gaga, Mary Kate Olsen and Mischa Barton have all fallin’ in love with MARK AND ESTEL'S creations!
Upon entering the REBECCA MINKOFF show that afternoon, the energy was high. The square runway allowed for all seats to be equally a great spot to watch. And instead of having a soundtrack playing in the background while the models walked, a stage at the front was set up for Little Daylight to perform. Everyone knew they were in for a big treat, especially since 3-D glasses lay on top of the press release. They were to be worn for the last five looks of the show. Her inspiration for the collection came from the late iconic photographer Deborah Turbeville. Now you can enjoy the experience too:
