Max and Lubov Azria did it again. They wowed the audience with their Hervé Léger line. The Spring/Summer 2015 Collection embodied the spirit of the Onna-bugeisha, a Japanese female Samurai warrior.

I had the chance to go backstage before the show and discovered a few secrets...

A chalkboard full of bold words such as powerful warrior, couture glamorous, iconic, dynamic, exclusive, sensual and u-runway provided direction and inspiration for the models. “You are our stars!” was written across the bottom and then signed by Max and Lubov.

Then I got to talk to Gina Edwards, Lead Manicurist for Morgan Taylor; she told me how they got the lovely milky beige colour on the models' nails. “We used two colours [and] did a layering process. We started out with Heaven Sent which is a sheer white and followed it up with In the Nude which is a beautiful beige.”

Next was hair. Matt Fugate, Celebrity Spokesperson for CHI Haircare spilled the beans! It was about “exuding femininity without being too contrived,” he says. The models had a natural wave in their hair with the ends smoothed out. The top section of their hair was pulled back.

Fugate gives the step-by-step the process: “[I] took a two inch section, right down the center like a Mohawk and pulled [it] back really tight with a ton of hairspray. Then I raked my fingers through it, so that way it [gave] some attitude and edge. Lastly, [I] tied an elastic in the back and let it hang.” By the way, not one comb was used for this entire look. Only the stylist’s fingers. Impressive!

My last stop, before racing to take my seat to watch the show, was interviewing the famous Val Garland, Lead Design Makeup Artist for MAC. “It’s all about a strong graphic line on the eye and beautiful skin,” she says in her British accent. For the eyes, she used a matte MAC cream liner in a strong rectangular shape. Glowing skin was achieved using radiance lotions. Lips were a soft matte rose. “It’s that play on matte and shine,” comments Garland.

And now it’s time to pull it all together. What is your favourite look?
